Prague…

As some of you may know, I just returned home from an amazing trip to Prague.  This past Christmas, my wonderful boyfriend gave me tickets to Prague, Czech Republic.  It was a very generous gift.  We had a great time there and would recommend it to anyone.  I think we took thousands of pictures between the two of us and who knows when we will actually have the time to go through and edit them all.  For now I am just posting a few of them.  I hope you enjoy them. 🙂

On one of our nights in Prague we took the tram to one of the many bridges in the city so that we could do some night photography.  Here is a shot of the famous Charles Bridge with the Prague Castle in the background.  The Castle is one of the oldest castles that is still occupied.  Beautiful.

During our trip we had one rainy day but that didn’t keep us inside.  We came across this garden that seemed to be hidden away and we were the only ones in there except for an old man that was picking up apples and nuts that had fallen out of the trees and this little old woman that was feeding the peacocks.  She tried to speak to us but it was all in Czech so we couldn’t really understand.  It seemed though that this was probably her daily routine.  There were three peacocks (a mom, dad and baby) and she had a bag full of breadcrumbs and a bottle of Voda (water) with little dishes for them to drink out of.  Did I mention that it was raining and there were puddles everywhere, lol.  Still, it was very sweet and a wonderful part of our day.

Prague is filled with amazing doors and windows where ever you look.  Here’s a photo of just one of the windows I shot.  There was a real Tuscan feel to many of them, this one included.  Love it!

When we were on the top of Prague’s Eiffel Tower (The Petrin Tower) we found this romantic old lock with a couples name on it.  Then on the tram ride from the bottom of the tower back down to the street there was this young Czech couple cuddling up in front of us.  Made me think about the couple that put the lock on the tower.  I am such a sap, aren’t I? LOL.

We climbed more stairs than I can count on our trip, but at the top of each tower was another amazing view!

 

 

One place I couldn’t wait to visit was the old Jewish Cemetery in Josefov, the Jewish Quarter, which was created in the 15th century when Jews were forbidden to bury their dead outside their own district.  Space was scarce, so bodies were buried on top of each other in an estimated 12 layers.  Over the centuries, the lopsided tombstones formed unruly, poetic groupings.
